DIY

Over the weekend I started shaping my first surfboard. I have really wanted to do this for a long time but I just haven’t taken the initiative to do it. I went down to Fiberglass Hawaii in Ventura where I scored on a $70.00 blank and some great advice. My friend Roberto let me use his shaping bay and helped me out a lot! Chris Laughter heard that I was trying to shape a board so he came by with his camera to get some shots. He ended up getting a nice action shot of me using the planner and combined it with a sweet portrait. I don’t normally like my picture being taken but I love Chris’ work and knew he would create a portrait of me that I would really like. As far as the board goes, I am really happy with it. It is a 5’6 with a squash tail and it is super thick with not much rocker at all. I think it will be super fast and great for smaller days in California…that is if we even get some small waves.
